Job Description

Senior Design Architect
Direct Hire
$90,000 per year Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design efforts within the design department
  • Oversee the aesthetic qualities of various projects as they are developed from programming, schematic design, design development and construction documentation phases.
  • Maintain reputation of having a consistent level of quality and design excellence.
  • Assist other Architects and Department Manager as necessary on various projects.
  • Maintain skills in computer rendering and/or hand drawn rendering.
  • Interface and work with other departments as necessary to support the Design/Build process.
    Produce high quality work, incorporating safety at all times.
  • Work with team members (employees and consultants) at all levels of contract administration.
  • Plans and prepares construction drawings and specifications of project.
  • Coordinate internal plan reviews with the department Senior Project Architect to assure code and regulation compliance with all projects.
  • Confer with appropriate client/owner personnel regarding proposed construction and plans on occasion. Consults with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, and equipment. Attend project progress meetings. Assist construction and project managers as needed. Develop and distribute detailed notes from project meetings. Coordinate/attend necessary meetings with consultants, planning officials, building officials, health/safety/law officials.
  • Control any number of projects at various stages of work.
  • Plans layouts of projects and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.       Check a set of drawings and prepare feedback to staff.
  • Assists in preparation of construction documents and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
  • Prepares studies and reports.
  • Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment.
  • Mentor/Train/develop design department personnel in area of design expertise and aesthetic matters.
  • Other duties may be assigned.  

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
  • Ability to use extensive working knowledge of all paperwork procedures necessary to complete the contract documents to obtain permits and prepare for construction.
  • Ability to use working knowledge of all consultant work to maintain efficiencies and meet deadlines. Possess and in depth understanding of the basics of most building systems.
  • Ability to operate workstation to generate and review computer aided drafting (CAD) and related MS Office software – Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling, presentation, and design software.
  • Knowledge of codes and ordinances, with continuous education to stay updated on changes

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Architecture.       Minimum of Bachelors of Science Architecture, Bachelors of Architecture Degree and/or Master’s Degree – Architecture.
